hans-thies lehmann: i am a professor of theatre studies at the goethe-university in frankfurt, germany. i am interested in the development of new forms and formats of theatre and performance and my contributions to the study of theatre include the founding and/or developing of three practice-related study programs in germany: developing the institute for applied theatre studies in gießen as collaborator of andrzej wirth; co-founding and developing the institute of theatre- film- and media-studies in frankfurt and the foundation of the master program in dramaturgy in frankfurt. now i have had enough of institutional work and hope to complete some books in the near future (on tragedy, on film and theatre) and edit a collection "postdramatic theatre in the 21st century; the first 10 years". apart from writing "postdramatic theatre" (first german edition 1999, translated in more than 10 languages) i studied and study ancient greek theatre, heiner müller, bert brecht as well as some other areas of research.
