hannah van wieringen(1982) is a dutch playwright. she studied writing for performance in utrecht. her characters fight the force of postmodern fatalism and helplessness. they try and subsequently fail better.

she wrote ‘reiger ex machina' for theater gasthuis in 2007, a play that writes itself and unites an heron and a love affair seamlessly. in 2008 she wrote ‘lege plek' also produced by theater gasthuis, about a bird expedition, death and the need for silence. her language is described as sensuous, disturbing and highly self-conscious
